Motocross Track Proposed For Tinton Falls

The proposed track would be located on Shafto Road.

The Tinton Falls Zoning Board will soon be hearing an application to build a large motocross track on Shafto Road.

The application is expected to be heard by the board on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Tinton Falls Borough Hall.

The company, Jersey Shore Motocross, is proposing to build three tracks, including a lighted one that can be used at night.

The project, which would cover 21 acres, also includes the construction of a 3,200-square-foot registration and pro shop building and a 2,400-square-foot maintenance building.

The facility would operate year-round, 6 days a week except Mondays and would be open from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.

The facility would also feature parking for about 500 vehicles and several 100-foot-high, stadium-style lights for the nighttime tracks.

Jersey Shore Motocross needs the board to grant it a use variance as the land is currently zoned for light industrial use.
