Bio: Peter Schaus is a lifelong resident of Oceanport who graduated from Red Bank Regional High School in Little Silver. At MSU, Peter served as Managing Editor of the weekly student newspaper The Montclarion, where he received three New Jersey Newspaper Foundation Awards, the Harold Friedlander Memorial Journalism Award, The Montclarion's 2007 "Editor of the Year" award, and was one of the recipients of the Student Press Law Center and the Associated Collegiate Press's 2008 College Press Freedom Award. At Patch, we promise always to approach the news as objectively as possible and adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable.
Politics:
How would you describe your political beliefs? Moderate
Are you registered with a certain party? No
Religion:
How religious would you consider yourself? (casual, observant, devout, non-religious) Non-religious

Local Hot-Button Issues:
What do you think are the most important issues facing the community? The closure of Fort Monmouth and the possible closure of Monmouth Park.
Where do you stand on each of these issues? I believe both sides have valid arguments in the renovation of Fort Monmouth, but I also think its imperative for Monmouth Park to remain open to support our local economy.
