About Joe

For over 25 years, I've witnessed some breathtaking natural events in an unlikely place - Lower New York Bay, including Sandy Hook Bay & Raritan Bay.

This urban waterway is a small spot on the planet where the natural and non-natural worlds meet from Jamaica Bay to Sandy Hook Bay.

Now I have decided to share some of the sights and scenes of nature on the edge I am fortunate to see throughout the year.

When I am not outdoors or writing about nature, then I am an adjunct professor in the History/Anthropology department at Monmouth University where I teach a course entitled, Global Environmental Problems, and an adjunct professor at Brookdale Community College in the Environmental Science department where I teach environmental studies.

I am also a professional environmental educator, a naturalist with the Monmouth County Park System, vice-chair of the Monmouth County Environmental Council, and Co-Chair of the Bayshore Regional Watershed Council.

I live in Atlantic Highlands, NJ.
