I started making the Remembering Flags before Memorial Day 2012 to bring a little comfort to Gold Star Families I connected with on Facebook and plan to continue my personal mission to Honor and Remember our Fallen Heroes with their precious photos and special words. My husband is a retired Naval Aviator. My oldest son is a Naval aviator and Iraq veteran and my daughter-in-law is in the Coast Guard and thus we all see how my photos on fabric can bring some comfort to the families and friends of our Fallen Heroes. While flying a late night mission over Baghdad in 2007, my son took the background photo of a sunrise I use in many of the collages.

My "Photos on Fabric" products are in my online shop: www.Etsy.com/shop/Remembering Quilts. Message me on FB or email me at Helen@RememberingQuilts.com and we can work together to make a Remembering Quilt, Flag, Pillow, Tote, Apron or print your photos on fabric for you to make your own personal creation... I make "Photo On Fabric" products for any occasion, military and non military but I do not share the personal products here on my FB page unless I have permission.

I taught myself how to print Photos on Fabric after losing my mother following her issues with Alzheimer's. I saw what can be done for people dealing with memory issues in their waning years or memory loss due to injury/illness and bring relief to patients, family members or caregivers. My passion later grew to assist families with Veterans dealing with TBI/PTSD. And later yet to honor and remember our fallen heroes. It is an amazing experience to help families tell a story with their photos. I chose "Remembering Quilts" because it is a blend of what technology has to offer with the traditional warmth and caring of a family quilt. The process begins with up to 8 pictures per collage and special text to be included. We iterate the collage until approved before final printing on fabric. The process is in www.Etsy.com/shop/RememberingQuilts. The technology of the equipment and products evolves over time as does my ability to use it to help others visually tell their story in such a unique and personal way.

A Veterans Day article in the NJ paper, The Star Ledger was written after I was comtacted by a person in the Facebook PR department asking me to explain how I intertwine my personal Facebook page and my Remembering Quilts FB page: http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2013/11/star-spangled_banners_eatontown_womans_remembering_flags_honor_fallen_service_members.html
