Gerry Scharfenberger, Ph.D. has been a professional archaeologist for over 20 years.  He has worked on projects throughout the Middle Atlantic and New England regions, particularly in New Jersey, New York and Delaware.  Dr. Scharfenberger has lectured throughout the United States, Canada and England and has over 20 publications to his credit.  He is also on the adjunct faculty of Monmouth University where he teaches a number of archaeology courses in the History and Anthropology Department.  Dr. Scharfenberger has been a member of the Middletown Township Committee since 2005, where he has served as Mayor in 2007, 2008 and 2010 and Deputy Mayor in 2006 and 2009. Currently, he is the Director of the Office for Planning Advocacy for the State of New Jersey.
