Resident allegedly sold T-shirts a collected donations at 9/11 events and never gave money promised to victims' families.
A Tinton Falls resident and a Manahawkin man have been indicted by a state grand jury for allegedly operating a bogus 9/11 charity. Mark Niemczyk, 66, of Tinton Falls, and Thomas Scalgione, 41, of Manahawkin, were indicted on May 3 on third-degree charges of conspiracy and theft by deception. Niemczyk is also charged with third-degree failure to file a personal state income tax return in 2011, according to a release from the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General. The two men allegedly used a pickup truck painted with the Twin Towers and the names of police and firefighters who died at Ground Zero. They allegedly sold T-shirts and collected donations at 9/11 events, but never gave any of the proceeds, which totaled in excess of $50,000…

Three Monmouth County women, two of them seniors, are facing charges related to what authorities said was several years of insurance fraud. Marion Gualtieri, 75, of Oceanport, Grace Katchen, 73, of Ocean, and Andrea Regn, 41, of Neptune, were indicted Monday by a Monmouth County grand jury on third- and second-degree charges of insurance fraud. The grand jury found enough evidence to accuse Gualtieri of making false statements and/or omitting relevant details on her Aetna renewal forms from December of 2005 to December of 2010. A Tinton Falls man was indicted by a Monmouth County Grand Jury Wednesday on 11 counts stemming from allegations he sold heroin to undercover officers from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office in both Shrewsbury and Neptune. Anthony Thigpen, 41, of San Anita Drive in Tinton Falls, allegedly sold the drugs to officers on Feb. 8 in Shrewsbury and twice the following day, Feb. 9, in Neptune during an undercover operation. Thigpen was indicted on multiple counts of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute, and Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Police say she would drive erratically and then report other drivers to state and local police departments
An Aberdeen woman was indicted by a Monmouth County grand jury Wednesday for allegedly filing and attempting to file multiple false police reports against drivers on the Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County, in the boroughs of Red Bank and Sayreville. Investigators say Karen Born, 54, filed four false police reports and attempted to file four other police reports with the NJ State Police between May 2010 and June 2012 against drivers on the Parkway in Aberdeen, Matawan, Holmdel, Middletown, Eatontown, Tinton Falls, and Wall. Resident indicted on two charges following incidents in Tinton Falls and Eatontown.
A Monmouth County grand jury voted to indict a Freehold woman on Wednesday after she allegedly moved stolen property from Tinton Falls. Ilene S. Darnely, a.k.a. Ilene S. Fink, 32, of Manchester Court, was indicted on one charge of theft of moveable property and one charge of fencing after she allegedly took and trafficked stolen jewelry and silverware between the months of February and April. According to the indictment, the alleged stolen items taken by Darnely were from Tinton Falls but were being fenced, otherwise known as trafficked, in Eatontown. The alleged stolen jewelry and silverware were valued over $500.

Resident indicted on 13 counts by Monmouth County Grand Jury
A Brick resident has been indicted by a Monmouth County Grand Jury and is now facing a 13 drug-related charges for crimes he allegedly committed in Long Branch, Tinton Falls and Eatontown. Man also charged with theft of movable property
An Asbury Park man has been indicted by the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office for burglarizing a Long Branch home and stealing over $1,000 in "food items." Timothy Johnson, Jr., 27, 0f Washington Avenue in Asbury Park was charged on June 22 with burglarizing the home and was also charged with theft of movable property for stealing the food items. Johnson allegedly burglarized a commercial building which was closed at the time of offense on April 15, 2011.

Charges stem from incident in Neptune earlier this year
A West Long Branch man was indicted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office for endangering the welfare of a child in Neptune earlier this year. James Parker, 42 of Primrose Lane was indicted on June 10 and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child on March 26. Parker allegedly endangered the welfare of two children under the age of 18 while they were under his care in Neptune. The children are not named in the indictment.
