Burglary occurred on June 11
A West Long Branch woman has been arrested and charged with burglarizing a Wall Street home on Monday, June 11. Nicole Whitley, 22, was charged with burglary and theft after allegedly entering a home at 76 Wall Street through the basement window and stealing a guitar and amplifier valued at $290, according to court documents. Whitley also charged with possessing a controlled dangerous substance for allegedly having suboxone that she did not have a prescription for at the time of her arrest. It is not clear if the woman is connected with any of the other burglaries that have occurred in the Wall Street area over the last two months. Program to be created after latest string of burglaries
The string of burglaries that has plagued the borough in recent months has caused the West Long Branch Police to begin a Neighborhood Watch program. West Long Branch Police Capt. Lawrence Mihlon confirmed that the department is going to start "some sort of Neighborhood Watch" program in the near future. Capt. Mihlon said he and Detective Mike Paolantonio will be attending a class next week to learn how to implement the program. The police, on the department's Facebook page, have asked residents what their thoughts on starting a Neighborhood Watch program are and the feedback appeared to be positive. Burglary occurred on Locust Avenue on Monday
The rash of burglaries in West Long Branch continued yesterday when a home was burglarized on Locust Avenue. The West Long Branch Police say the home was broken into during the day, but did not provide a specific address or time of day. The police have been reporting an increase in burglaries over the last few weeks in areas around Wall Street and Locust Avenue. "It seems that the burglars exploit the opportunity presented after people leave for work and before school dismissals," the West Long Branch Police stated on Facebook.
