DOE Commissioner must still ratify decision
Interlaken children will still be allowed to attend the West Long Branch School District and Shore Regional after an administrative law judge recently handed down his ruling. Interlaken is a non-operating district and does not have any schools, but by state law, is a sending district to Asbury Park city schools. The interim executive Monmouth County superintendent, wrote the Interlaken board March 12 that it ignored a directive last August that said the district was sending the children on a sending-receiving basis that was not approved by the state commissioner and that contract had to be rescinded. This forced the schools' boards to take action to allow the students to continue to attend the West Long Branch schools. West Long Branch …

Districts will likely not share business administrator
Shore Regional and the West Long Branch School District will likely share a superintendent after a recent study concluded that it would be the best course of action for the schools Both schools have interim superintendents, and the report concluded that they enter a shared service arrangement for that position. The school districts, along with Monmouth Beach and Oceanport, entered into an agreement with Puleio & Strimple Associates in January to conduct a study to advise their boards of future options for providing administrative services. The openings at Shore Regional and West Long Branch, combined with decreased aid and a down economy prompted the school boards to go ahead with the study in hopes of saving money and moving toward …

Oceanport seeking to cut Director of Special Services and share position with West Long Branch, feasibility study to discover other possibilities for shared services with similar school districts nearby.
A proposed plan for Oceanport and West Long Branch school districts to cut costs by sharing a Director of Special Services was met with contention by Oceanport parents concerned the position would be too much for one person to handle. The plan, which was discussed at the Oceanport Board of Education's public workshop meeting at Maple Place Middle School on Thursday night, calls for the dismissal of Oceanport's current Director of Special Services, Robin Dunikoski, to share West Long Branch's director Lolly Yaconi. Oceanport would in turn share their Network Technician, Louis Pelissier, with West Long Branch, which currently does not have a technology officer. The Director of Special Services is responsible for facilitating a team that …
