Brookdale Students Hold Hoodie March for Trayvon Martin
"No justice, no peace," the mantra of marchers.
Brookdale Community College students, faculty and community members came out in support of a "Hoodie March" in honor of Trayvon Martin, Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Shouts of, “No justice, no peace” and “I am Trayvon,” were proclaimed as participants marched across campus. The event was sponsored by Brookdale’s Black Student Union. Following the march, participants gathered to share their thoughts during an open microphone ceremony. One after the other, students and faculty spoke their minds regarding racial profiling. In memory of Trayvon Martin, Franklyn Rother, academic division dean of social science and education, recited a personal letter given to him by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The letter spoke about the anticipation of a day where …
