Possible Tornado Collapsed Roof of Long Branch Apartment

None injured during incident

A possible tornado caused the roof of an apartment at 519 Ocean Ave. in Long Branch to collapse early Sunday morning. The incident occurred just before 2 a.m. on Sunday, but luckily nobody was in the apartments at the time, according to Long Branch Emergency Management Coordinator Stanley Dzuiba. "They all evacuated on their own," Dzuiba said.  He said the Red Cross will be coming to the city to speak with the residents to help them find homes while the roof is fixed. Dzuiba said the area where the apparent tornado struck has been closed off for now, and that a weather organization will be inspecting the site on Monday to see if it was, in fact, a tornado that touched down.
