Seabrook, a retirement community located in Tinton Falls, recently held its second annual Geography Bee and this year, resident Margot Rivera was the winner. Rivera says she loves to travel and has been to nearly 25 different countries, including the two sovereign states of Vatican City and San Marino. Do you know in which state Lake Francis Case is located? Rivera did and as a result, knowing South Dakota as its home gave her the title. “I’ve always liked to look at maps,” Rivera said. “Different places have always fascinated me.” Originally from Berlin, Germany, Rivera said that the most exotic place she has travelled to was Borneo. However, if she could, she would love to not only retain her residence here at Seabrook, but have one in …

More than 20 different shapes and sizes of bark and breed converged upon the Seabrook Village auditorium for the annual Strut Your Mutt event. The event is a happening that has been taking place for 11 years and like always, it delivered the best in show. Crowds cheered as all sorts of canines were paraded down the aisle and onto the stage, where the owners told the audience a little something about their pooch and let them steal the limelight. And of course some did a few tricks. In addition to giving owners a chance to tell all about the relationship with their furry friend, the show gave pets, owners and attendees a unique way to socialize – this is one of Seabrook’s many popular events of the year. This year, the event featured a …

Annual Service Project Aimed at Reaching Out to Help Friends in Local Community
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, some residents at The Gardens at Seabrook (the community’s continuing care neighborhood) wanted to continue a tradition of reaching out to a very special organization by touching its clients through care packages with “love and prayer.” For four years now, each February, the residents at The Gardens have created care packages for clients from The Center in Asbury Park – a volunteer-based not-for-profit service organization that provides support services for people in Monmouth County living with HIV/AIDS, and their caregivers. This year, the residents are assembling 100 gifts that include Valentine’s Day candies, lip balm, tissues, pens and an inspirational prayer. “Our residents gain tremendous …

A resident-run acting group called the Seabrook Performers collected money from ticket sales from their latest show, "Tales of the South Pacific," to the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Following the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, some members of the group, including the producer Lindo Meli, rode around and saw some of the Monmouth County towns hit hardest by the storm.
