Power Outages Increase in Most Towns After Nor'Easter

  Wednesday's nor'easter has caused more power outages in the Long Branch-Eatontown area and Route 36 in Eatontown is closed after a broken pole and wires fell Wednesday night. The road closure is causing major delays in West Long Branch, Eatontown and Long Branch on Thursday morning, and those looking to get to the Garden State Parkway should use an alternate route. The number of outages climbed back into the thousands in Tinton Falls and Eatontown and there are almost 500 additional outages in Long Branch today, according to Jersey Central Power & Light. Monmouth Park's Haskell Invitational Will Cause Major Traffic Delays Sunday

Heaviest congestion expected following the last race at 6:17 p.m. July 29.

  Officials are warning residents of upcoming traffic closures around Monmouth Park on Sunday to accommodate traffic entering and exiting the borough for the 2012 Haskell Invitational, traditionally the track's busiest day of the year. Accordng to a traffic advisory released by the Oceanport Police Department, Oceanport Avenue, between Port Au Peck Avenue and the Main Gate of Monmouth Park, will be closed to all vehicle traffic to provide safe accommodation for the large pedestrian flow in and out of the racetrack. DOT: Route 35, 36 Intersection Construction Complete

Intersection is open in its final configuration

The Route 35/36 intersection construction project in Eatontown is complete after more than two years of work, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT). The work began in April 2010, with the purpose of realigning and widening the existing intersection to "improve operational performance, reduce congestion and enhance safety," NJDOT Spokesman Timothy Greeley said. "All of the major construction components of the project have been completed and the intersection is opened in it's new, final configuration," Greeley said. "The contractor is still on scene finishing punchlist items, cleaning up the area and closing out the contract, but the project is essentially done." I had to loop around the half circle but then would have had to make a diagonal to get into the left lane to make the left turn. More Road Work Coming to Route 36 in Long Branch This Summer

Resurfacing of highway will be part of NJDOT's summer repair projects

  A portion of Route 36 in Long Branch will be resurfaced this summer as part of the New Jersey Department of Transportation's (NJDOT) roadway repair project. Route 36 from Oceanport Avenue near the entrance to Monmouth Park in West Long Branch to just west of Ocean Boulevard in Long Branch will be repaired over the course of the summer. The repair project will address deteriorated sections of asphalt and concrete roadway on Routes 33, 34, 35 and 36 in Monmouth County. The work will be started and completed on one highway at a time before crews move to the next project area. Sections of Route 34 southbound in Wall Township will be addressed first. Police Asking Residents To Avoid Route 36

Bamboozle parking at Monmouth Park causing severe traffic

  Parking and shuttle service to Bamboozle from Monmouth Park is causing major traffic on Route 36 Sunday afternoon. The West Long Branch Police issued a Nixle alert around 2 p.m. warning residents of "bumper to bumper" traffic on Highway 36 east from the Parkway to the parking lot at Monmouth Park. Police are asking motorists to not gridlock intersections and to be patient while driving in the area. Motorists are also being urged to "avoid the area if possible." The West Long Branch Police have issued Nixle messages over the last three days about traffic jams in the area, because of the Asbury Park concert which will conclude Sunday night.

Final Phase of Route 35, 36 Construction Begins Friday Night

  The final phase of the Route 35, 36 intersection in Eatontown will begin tonight according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT). NJDOT Spokesman Timothy Greeley said the Route 35 northbound travel lanes will be placed into their permanent new alignment through the intersection with Route 36 this weekend. Greeley said a newly reconfigured Route 36 westbound ramp to Route 35 northbound will be opened as well. The new traffic pattern for the long-running, $15 million road project is expected to be in place by early Saturday morning, he said. Police Warn Residents of Bamboozle Traffic Concerns

Traffic on Route 36 to increase Friday night and Saturday afternoon

  The Bamboozle Festival in Asbury Park is bringing more than just Bon Jovi and the Foo Fighters to the area this weekend. The West Long Branch Police are warning residents of the increased traffic the three-day concert will bring to Route 36 and the area around Monmouth Park from Friday through Sunday. Monmouth Park will serve as the free offsite parking for the three-day music festival, using lots along Oceanport Avenue. Concertgoers will pay the $10 daily fee for the shuttle bus to Asbury Park, or $25 for all three days. Route 35, 36 Intersection Construction Will Now Be 'Substantially' Complete by July

Contractor's work schedule expedited.

  Motorists can now feel some relief as the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is now reporting that construction at the intersection of Routes 35 and 36 in Eatontown will be "substantially" complete by mid-July. NJDOT Spokesman Timothy Greeley said the contractor, DeFino Contracting, was originally granted a "six-month extension for the substantial completion date due to delays in utility relocations and other factors that were out of their control." Greeley said that extension brought the completion date from mid-summer 2012 into January, 2013.  "In recent weeks, the (Eatontown Mayor Gerald Tarantolo) and others have increasingly voiced their concerns to us about carrying this construction through another summer season," …

NJDOT: Route 35, 36 Intersection Construction Still on Schedule

  The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) says completion of the reveamped intersection of Routes 35 and 36 in Eatontown is still scheduled to be completed in January, 2013. There has not been much activity around the site within the last few months, and probably will not be until the third phase of the project begins early this summer, according to NJDOT Spokesman Timothy Greeley. Portion of Route 36 in Long Branch To Be Closed For 12 Days

NJDOT will be performing railroad-crossing repairs on Route 36

  A portion of Route 36 (Joline Avenue) in Long Branch will be closed for up to 12 days as the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) makes railroad-crossing repairs. Route 36 will be fully closed to traffic at the railroad crossing just east of Washington Street starting around 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 12. The closure will remain in place through Tuesday, April 24, but NJDOT officials say the highway could be reopened sooner if the repair work is finished earlier than scheduled. The Long Branch Police have coordinated two detour results as a result of the construction.
