An Eatontown woman struck while crossing Route 35 suffered traumatic injuries after midnight Thursday, in an incident police said remains under investigation. Eatontown police reported Jean Joseph, 21, of Neptune was driving a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder northbound on Route 35 as Linda Lamarca, 52, of Eatontown, was crossing north of Wyckoff Road around 12:25 a.m. Thursday. Police arrived to find Lamarca had been struck by the vehicle, and was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center for traumatic injuries, police said. Eatontown First Aid responded. Ptl. A recent report shows a high vacancy rate along Route 35 from Shrewsbury to Ocean.
A new report that examines the retail real estate market in central and northern New Jersey paints a positive outlook for much of the region, lending credence to the idea that the state is finally enjoying some economic recovery following a national recession that began in earnest in 2008. But it's not all good news, however, especially locally. Among the submarkets with the highest retail vacancy rates, the Goldstein Group reports, is Route 35 from Shrewsbury to Ocean, an area littered with aging strip malls and retail development.
