More than 400 students graduate at ceremony held at the MAC
A few months ago, Monmouth University's Multipurpose Activity Center (MAC) served as the largest evacuation shelter in the state for more than 1,000 people displaced by Hurricane Sandy. On Friday afternoon, it was not filled with evacuees, but 417 graduates for the university's winter commencement ceremony. Graduates included those who completed their required courses in the summer or fall of 2012. As part of the ceremony, one of the heroes during the storm, Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun F. Golden, was presented with the Maurice Pollak Award for Distinguished Community Service for his regional leadership role during Hurricane Sandy. Ceremony held Friday afternoon at the MAC
The Monmouth University Winter Commencement Ceremony was held at the Multipurpose Activity Center on Friday afternoon. Approximately 650 graduate and undergraduate degrees were handed out and Ambassador of Israel to the United States Michael Oren delivered the commencement address. Oren also received an honorary degree from the university along with Harry S. Pozycki, chairman and founder of The Citizens Campaign.

Winter commencement set for Jan. 13
Monmouth University will have a special guest for its annual winter commencement ceremony as Ambassador of Israel to the United States Michael Oren will deliver the commencement address to graduates. Oren will also receive an honorary degree during the ceremony which is set for Friday, Jan. 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the Multipurpose Activity Center (MAC). The university will award approximately 650 undergraduate and graduate degrees, and Harry S. Pozycki, chairman and founder of The Citizens Campaign, will also receive an honorary degree.
