Red Bank Woman Charged With Drug Crimes in Long Branch

Woman held on $75,000 bail

A Red Bank woman faces drug charges after being arrested in Long Branch. Michelle Richardson, 47, of Montgomery Terrace was arrested on May 23 near Broadway Park in the city and accused of possessing and selling heroin. Police said Richardson sold heroin to an undercover officer, according to court records. She was charged with possession, distributing heroin to an officer, distribution of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school (Gregory School), distribution of heroin within 500 feet of Broadway Park and conspiracy to distribute heroin. She is being held in Monmouth County Correctional Institution in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Chicken Pox Cases Put Monmouth County Jail on Lockdown

Two inmates came down with chicken pox, according to the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office.

The Monmouth County Correctional Institution is on lockdown following two reported chicken pox cases, according to a press release issued by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Shaun Golden and Warden Brian Elwood instituted the lockdown on Sunday, Aug. 12 after consulting with the jail’s medical team. “The Monmouth County Correctional Institution is taking all precautionary measures to protect against the spread of the virus,” Golden said in the release. “Each inmate has been examined and educated about the chickenpox. Claudine, I grew up in NJ and never got chicken pox until I was 18 (now 37). Mom sent me over to the house of multiple friends who had it when I was little, but I just didn't catch it! So it's not just people who are isolated who don't get it until adulthood. And with the vaccine out, the virus is less prevalent so people aren't catching it as much when they are little anymore either.   more ›

Long Branch Man Accused of Concealing Knife While in Jail

Justin Taylor was incarcerated at Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold on weapons charges at the time of the incident.

  A Long Branch man incarcerated in Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) in Freehold Township on weapons charges is accused of having a folding knife in his possession at the jail. Justin Taylor, 18, allegedly concealed a knife with a 3.5-inch blade while in custody at the prison on Friday, April 27 and threatened to assault a corrections officer with the weapon, according to an arrest warrant issued Tuesday, May 1. Taylor was arrested in Neptune Township on Wednesday, April 25 after he allegedly used a knife with a serrated blade to cut open packages to facilitate a shoplifting.
