City has already purchased meters, mapped out parking spaces
Long Branch is still undecided on whether or not it will install parking meters throughout the city for the 2013 summer season. At this time last year, the city seemed dead-set on using the parking meters to help boost revenue, but there have been many complaints from businesses and residents on the effect they will have on them. "The revenue requirements are still there, but we understand the effect it could have on businesses," City Business Administrator Howard Woolley said this week. "We are still trying to ascertain whether to do it or not." The city passed an $855,000 bond ordinance for the meters last June and outlined a plan where all the meters would be placed. Mayor says town should still still draw visitors and beachgoers
The fact that Long Branch will not have a rebuilt boardwalk south of Pier Village this summer should not stop people from coming to the city to enjoy its beaches and festivities, Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider recently said. "Clearly whatever we do or don't do will have an impact on the summer and revenue," Schneider said in a recent interview. "But we don't have the same needs from our boardwalk as other towns." Schneider said Pier Village is one of the city's biggest attractions, and that its boardwalk will be repaired in time for the summer. Long Branch Business Administrator Howard Woolley said the bluff from Brighton Avenue to Cottage Place is "severely compromised." He said there has also been erosion between the seawall and the edge of the roadway that must be corrected before boardwalk pilings can be placed …

Long Branch Mayor says fixing boardwalk is a priority
Long Branch's boardwalk south of Pier Village is one of the areas of the city that was hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy last month. Huge sections of the boardwalk were washed away and others were severely damaged. "The most visible damage was to the boardwalk," Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider said in a recent interview. Mayor Schneider said the city surveyed all damage done in the area with photos and video and will be putting in claims to FEMA to help pay for repairs. "I think the biggest number will be the boardwalk," he said. "We are experienced with FEMA and we will definitely be putting in claims." Mayor Schneider said the fixing the boardwalk is a "priority," but that he would be surprised if it could be fixed in time for Memorial …
