West Long Branch Man Charged In Broadway Stabbing

Police have arrested a West Long Branch resident and charged him with stabbing a man on Broadway in Long Branch. Alberto H. Hernandez, 27, of Victor Avenue, West Long Branch allegedly stabbed Ignacio Romero Rocha, 42, near Broadway at 2:37 a.m. on July 29, Monmouth County Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Richard Incremona confirmed this week. Police documents state that Rocha was stabbed in the abdomen with a kitchen knife. Rocha was taken to a local hospital, but officials have not said which one. Surgery was performed, and as of last Friday, he was in critical condition according to Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni.
