West Long Branch Man Charged In Broadway Stabbing

Stabbing occurred on Friday, July 29

Police have arrested a West Long Branch resident and charged him with stabbing a man on Broadway in Long Branch. Alberto H. Hernandez, 27, of Victor Avenue, West Long Branch allegedly stabbed Ignacio Romero Rocha, 42, near Broadway at 2:37 a.m. on July 29, Monmouth County Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Richard Incremona confirmed this week.  Police documents state that Rocha was stabbed in the abdomen with a kitchen knife. Rocha was taken to a local hospital, but officials have not said which one. Surgery was performed, and as of last Friday, he was in critical condition according to Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni. Man Stabbed On Broadway Early Friday Morning In Critical Condition

Police working with Prosecutor's Office on 3 a.m. incident

A 42-year-old man who was stabbed on Broadway early Friday morning is in critical condition, according to Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni. The incident occurred at 2:37 a.m. Friday, and the victim, who is not being identified by police or the prosecutor's office, was taken to a local hospital after being stabbed in the stomach with a knife Surgery was performed, and he is now in critical condition, according to Gramiccioni. Gramiccioni said nobody has been charged for the crime at this time and that the incident is still under investigation by the prosecutor's office and the Long Branch Police.
