Man shot in the area of Second Avenue
A man was shot in Long Branch late Thursday night, Lt. Jason Roebuck confirmed. The man was shot in the area of Second Avenue around 9 p.m. and was taken to Monmouth Medical Center according to emergency communications. The man's identity and condition are unknown at this time, Lt. Roebuck said. This is a breaking news story and will be updated as soon as more information becomes available.

A Long Branch man who accidentally shot himself in the leg was arrested early Thursday morning, according to Long Branch Detective Sgt. Jeff Pilone. Detective Sgt. Pilone said officers received a call of shots fired near Morrell Street in Long Branch around 10 p.m. Officer K. Kim and other officers arrived and found a shell casing in the area, but no victim. At 11 a.m., Long Branch police received a report of a shooting victim who was taken to a Monmouth Medical Center emergency room. All three victims suffered non-life threatening injuries
The three men who were shot on a porch on Westwood Avenue on July 16 have been identified by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. The men all suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Monmouth Medical Center and Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment. The shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. on July 16. Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni identified the men as Paul Anderson, 19, his brother Darien Anderson, 18, both of Long Branch and Darnel Martin, 21, of Wall. Paul was hit by two bullets, including one that grazed the right portion of his chest and his right thigh. Darien was struck by one bullet that grazed his left leg. Three young men were shot on Westwood Avenue in Long Branch early Saturday morning. Monmouth County Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Richard Incremona said the three men, two from Long Branch and one from Wall, were shot while on a porch on Westwood Avenue at 2:10 a.m. All three suffered non-life threatening injuries.
