Long Branch Free Public Library Launches New Website

More user-friendly for laptops, smartphones and tablets

The Long Branch Free Public Library's redesigned website has launched. The website, http://www.longbranchlib.org, was redesigned by Assistant Library Director Tonya Badillo. It took Badillo six months to create the streamline the overall look of the site, which she says will make it more user-friendly for people using tablets, smartphones and laptops to access it. "It will now sync with social media and apps resulting in a modern, up to date online presence for the library," Long Branch Free Public Library Outreach Coordinator Kate Angelo. Need Tax Help? The Long Branch Library Can Help

Library hosting free tax prep until April 17

  Tax season can be a stressful time for residents, but the Long Branch Free Public Library is attempting to ease the pain. The library is hosting free tax preparation by community volunteers until April 17. This service is first come, first served, so the library is asking interested patrons to arrive early and sign in at the reference desk. Those who wish to participate should also bring all their necessary tax information with them for any class. E-Filing will be held on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. t0 5 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. Paper filing will be held on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Fridays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. …

That is definitely horrible! I'm so sorry. You cannot take some of these sales staff at their statement. The only way to find the best tax relief firm is to check on an appraisal web site. I quite like this group called ConsumerTaxReports.Org. They offer blatantly genuine evaluations and really call out some of these providers because of their slimy ways. Take a look at the site. Long Branch Library Awarded Historical Grant

Grant will be used to digitize Monmouth County maps

The Long Branch Free Public Library is has been awarded a mini-grant from the Historical Commission of the State of New Jersey. The $512 grant will be used to digitize the Plat Book of Monmouth County. The Plat Book of Monmouth County contains a collection of rare, old maps of Long Branch and the surrounding area. The digitization of the book will make the collection accessible on the library's website at http://www.lmxac.org/longbranch/. Library Outreach Coordinator Kate Angelo thanked librarian Janet Birckhead for writing the grant and Elsalyn Palmisano for her assistance with the application process.

iPoet Series to Wrap Up June 11

Final event will be held at Long Branch Free Public Library

The iPoet event in Long Branch has been a smashing success, but like most good things, it is coming to an end this month. The event wraps its season of performance poetry showcases at the Long Branch Free Public Library on Saturday, June 11, it will join forces in a special presentation with Loser Slam. Loser Slam is a performance poetry cooperative which has weekly workshops, tournaments and open mic events at Long Branch favorite, The Inkwell. Jersey Sting Author Gives Book Talk

Author discusses book at Long Branch Free Public Library

The Long Branch Free Public Library was packed with people on Wednesday night to listen to a book talk given by "The Jersey Sting" co-author Ted Sherman. The book, released on March 15, was written by Sherman, and investigative reporter for the The Star Ledger, and Josh Margolin and details Solomon Dwek's ponzi scheme and how his cooperation with the FBI led to the arrests of several politicians and others who helped him unfurl his plan.  Rabbi Eli Ben Haim, of nearby Deal, helped Dwek, of Ocean Township, launder money and introduced him to other money launderers. Joseph Kohen, a former mortgage broker from Long Branch, was recently sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for his role in Dwek's attempt to defraud PNC Bank.  Sherman …
