Local wrestling club raises $1,200 for sick Toms River child
The Shore Wrestling club is not concerned about victories right now; the youth wrestlers and their coach are concerned about one of their own who is going through a terrible experience. Micahel Rankin, 8, of Toms River, was recently diagnosed with leukemia, and now coach Chris Labrecque and his team are rallying to support Rankin. Shore Wrestling Club is comprised of grapplers ages 8-12 from West Long Branch, Monmouth Beach, Oceanport and Sea Bright. Labrecque said he recently visited Rankin at Monmouth Medical Center and said he immediately started organizing a relief effort the boy. "When one of us goes down, we all go down," Labrecque said. About 600 toys collected by Seabrook residents
Residents of Seabrook, a Tinton Falls retirement community, are no strangers to giving those who are less fortunate. That trend continued this week when the community celebrated its latest effort, collecting toys to support the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Seniors collected about 600 toys that will be distributed to needy children during the holiday season by the Marine Corps. The Marine Toys for Tots drive at Seabrook was started 13 years ago by resident June Bayles. Some of the gifts collected include stuffed animals, games, coloring books, dolls, educational toys, costume jewelry and dress-up clothing. All the toys will go to the Toys for Tots office that serves Monmouth, Ocean, Middlesex and Somerset counties. Seabrook resident …

Theater group's original production will be performed this weekend
Lindo Meli has left an impression everywhere he has gone, and now he is leaving his mark at Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls. Meli, 93, is one of a handful of residents who put together the Seabrook Players' seventh theater production, two of which were original shows. Their latest show, The Wizard of Seabrook Village, is also an original production and tells the tale of Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr and Jack Haley, stars of the Wizard of Oz, as they search for a place to retire. They eventually get their minds set on Seabrook Village, but the path to becoming members is more arduous than they originally think.
