Eatontown Officially Names Park

Ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held next weekend

While it has been around for more than seven years, Husky Brook Park's name was never made official until this week. The Eatontown Council passed a resolution that approved the name "Husky Brook Park" for park located at Grant Avenue and West Grant Avenue. Mayor Gerald Tarantolo said the borough had always called the park "Husky Brook Park," but that there was nothing official in the borough's records. The park was named Husky Brook Park because of its close proximity to Husky Brook. Before becoming a park, the land was referred to as the Stella/Giordano and Capilupi tracts. Husky Brook Park Back on the Eatontown Council Table

Mayor and council agreed to consider adding some additional elements to the Grant Avenue park.

Like Lazarus rising from the dead, the issue of whether to add improvements to the Husky Brook Park project in Eatontown arose at the council's Feb. 1 workshop meeting. "I came here tonight with my blood pressure medicine," joked Council President Anthony Talerico about the contentious nature of the park's development among the mayor and council over the last few years. Although the council voted in April to go forward with the least expensive concept plans to develop the property at the intersection of Route 36 and Grant Avenue, Mayor Gerald Tarantolo proposed last week that officials consider adding a few more elements to the design. In particular, the mayor wanted the council to authorize the borough engineer to determine if three …
