Eatontown parcel will be on market soon
A change to the original redevelopment plan for Fort Monmouth will allow an Eatontown parcel to become a veterans community. At its May meeting, The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) board made Fort Monmouth Parcel V1 available through the request for offers to purchase (RFOTP) process. The 10-acre parcel is located along Alexander Avenue in Eatontown and is scheduled to be built into a veterans community. The community will provide permanent housing and assistance for homeless veterans. Borough will select developer to repair and operate facility for 2013
Fort Monmouth's marina parcel has been subleased to Oceanport, which will hire a company to maintain and run it this summer. The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority approved the sublease of the marina during its meeting on Wednesday night. Oceanport will solicit bids and select a company to operate the marina on a concession basis for the 2013 boating season. The company selected will also make repairs to marina. The marina's floating docks and boathouse were damaged by Hurricane Sandy last October. The marina is a 3.9-acre parcel located at Oceanport and Riverside Avenues in Oceanport. Parcel contains former research facility
A former research facility in the Tinton Falls section of Fort Monmouth is now on the market. The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) has issued a request for offers to purchase (RFOTP) for the property which consists of 7.25 acres, three buildings and a geo-thermal well field. Only one of the buildings, Building 2705, is planned for reuse. The other two buildings, 2718 and 2715, will likely be demolished. Proposals due by June 10, developers will likely be selected later this summer
The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) is receiving proposals for parcels of Fort Monmouth that will become the town centers for Eatontown and Tinton Falls. FMERA issued requests for offers to purchase (RFOTP) for three Fort Monmouth parcels last month; two of which will are scheduled to become town centers. Eatontown's Parcel B is a 55-acre tract located along the Fort’s Route 35 frontage in the Main Post’s Eatontown Reuse area. The property currently includes six 80,000-square-foot World War II-era buildings, which were last used as administrative facilities and as the home of West Point Prep. The following was posted in the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority's (FMERA) April newsletter: Due to the positive feedback and high demand associated with its inaugural community bus tour in January, (FMERA) will host its second bus tour on May 23. Members of the public will have an opportunity to visit the former military installation and learn more about the redevelopment effort. The tour will showcase key parcels of the 1,126-acre site, which spans Eatontown, Oceanport and Tinton Falls. Tours are limited to 60 members of the public and seats will be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. Next week's FMERA meeting canceled
The April 17 Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) meeting has been cancelled at the group continues to evaluate proposals for the sale of two large pieces of property. "Although there will not be a meeting of the Authority in April, the FMERA Board of Directors and staff are working on several ongoing matters, including the evaluation of proposals for the Howard Commons Area in Eatontown and the Officer Housing in Oceanport in accordance with the Authority's Sales Rules," a notice on FMERA's web site states. Proposals for both properties have already been submitted and FMERA is expected to choose a developer for Howard Commons in either June or July. Multifaceted housing strategy planned
The future of the former Fort Monmouth property's homeless housing has been outlined by the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA). A multifaceted housing strategy is planned for the area and includes the reuse of two existing buildings, the construction of a new emergency shelter and 40 single family housing units. These homeless housing obligations are required by the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) law. A Homeless Accommodation Fund is being used to finance the homeless housing projects for the property which are considered Legally Binding Agreements (LBAs). Close to 300 new homes could be built in Tinton Falls once developers are chosen to purchase two tracts of land in the borough's section of Fort Monmouth. The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) recently issued requests for offers to purchase (RFOTP) two properties located in the Charles Wood Area of Fort Monmouth. Parcel C is 39-acre site slated for 239 homes and 107,000 square feet of retail and commercial space. One of the largest parcels of Eatontown's portion of Fort Monmouth is currently being offered to developers. The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) issued a request for offers to purchase (RFOTP) Parcel B, which is located in the Main Post area of Fort Monmouth bordering Route 35, this week. The reuse plan for the 55-acre parcel calls for a "lifestyle center" with a total of 302 medium density or mixed-use residential units and up to 150,000 square feet of lifestyle retail use. This is defined as "an unenclosed retail center featuring national specialty stores and restaurants with convenient and easily accessible parking and a pedestrian-friendly ambiance."
