Eatontown Wawa Application Delayed Again

Application will be heard May 6

Wawa's application to build a convenience store and gas station on Route 35 in Eatontown has been put on hold once again. The application was scheduled to be heard by the Eatontown Zoning Board of Adjustment on Monday night, but Wawa's attorney Peter Falvo asked for it to be moved to the May 6 meeting. The board approved the change but said the applicant would be required to re-notice property owners that live in the vicinity of the proposed project. The developer's application also includes a strip mall that includes a bank and drive-through Chick-fil-A at the site of the vacant Circle Trailer Park and the Lube It All near the corner of Route 35 and Wycoff Road. They said the same thing about the industrial park. Homeowners did go to the meetings. Lighting was to be softened, deliveries were supposed to be restricted. Manhattan Bagel was getting delivereies at all hours of the night and day. The 3:00am deliveries were great as the trucks banged away to get all the flour out of the inside of the trucks. Eatontown Wawa Builder Wishes to Acquire Borough Property

Acquiring property would eliminate one of variances needed by applicant

The developer wishing to build a Wawa on Route 35 in Eatontown is now looking to acquire a small piece of borough property that will eliminate a variance needed in their application The applicant's attorney, Peter Falvo, told the Eatontown Council there is a "uniquely-shaped piece of property that happens to be a borough right-of-way," on the southwest corner of the property. "It's a sewer easement that serves the Brookwood development," Falvo said. "If we acquire it, it would eliminate our needed for a side yard setback variance." Falvo said one of the proposed uses of the site is a Chick-fil-A restaurant which would have a drive up window. He said a drive up window requires a 30-foot setback from the side property line. How about the land along Rt.35 north of the Fort Monmouth gate! All that prime frontage can be used for commercial developments being that Fort Monmouth is no longer and the parking lots along the fence buffeting Rt.35 will never be used again therefore convert that prime frontage into commercial property, it’s just going to waste right now.   more ›

Eatontown Wawa Application Carried to April 1

Professional and witnesses were unable to attend Monday night's meeting

An application to build a new Wawa convenience store and gas station on Route 35 in Eatontown has been carried by Eatontown Zoning Board of Adjustment. The application was scheduled to be presented during Monday night's meeting, but the applicant's attorney Peter Falvo said his professional and other witnesses were unable to attend the meeting. The board unanimously decided to carry the application to its April 1 meeting at 7:30 p.m. The application will be second on the agenda and will be preceded by an application to build an indoor miniature golf course on Hope Road. Eatontown Wawa Application On Tonight's Zoning Board Agenda

Proposal on table to build convenience store to Route 35

Wawa's application to build a new convenience store on Route 35 in Eatontown will be heard by the borough zoning board tonight at 7:30 p.m. The application was originally scheduled to be heard by the Eatontown Planning Board last month, but was moved to zoning board's agenda last week. Eatontown Mayor Gerald Tarantolo has said developer's application includes a plan to build a Wawa convenience store and a strip mall that includes a bank and Chick-fil-A at the site of the vacant Circle Trailer Park near the corner of Route 35 and Wycoff Road. That is why I say, instead of Wawa building a new gas station they just retrofit the Hess station on 36 and the Hess station near the Sheraton. Hess is ending the retails side closing all of their stations.   more ›

Eatontown Wawa Application Will Not Be Heard Today

Application will now be heard by Eatontown Zoning Board of Adjustment

Those looking to hear Wawa's application to build a new convenience store on Route 35 in Eatontown will have to wait at least a month. Tonight's Eatontown Planning Board meeting where the application was originally scheduled to be heard, has been cancelled. According to the borough's web site, the application will now be heard in front of the Eatontown Zoning Board, "on a date to be determined." Eatontown Mayor Gerald Tarantolo has said developer's application includes a plan to build a Wawa convenience store and a strip mall that includes a bank and Chick-fil-A at the site of the vacant Circle Trailer Park near the corner of Route 35 and Wycoff Road.
