Eatontown Police: Men Robbed Woman Outside Mall, Fled in Stolen Van and Crashed Into House

Incident resulted in pursuit and crash in Ocean Township

  A woman was robbed of her cell phone by a man driving a stolen van and was injured while trying to retrieve it outside the Monmouth Mall on Monday afternoon. Eatontown Police Det. Lawrence Tyler said the van, which was occupied by "several black males" sped off, later resulting in a pursuit that caused the driver to hit a house in Ocean Township before being caught after he attempted to escape on foot. The robbery occurred outside the Planet Fitness at Monmouth Mall at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Monday, when a 23-year old female was walking into the gym when she was approached by a white minivan.
