Chance of showers today and Thursday with plenty of sun in the forecast
Spring is in the air for this first week of April and the National Weather Service says that should mean plenty of sunny days ahead even if the temperature only stays in the 40's. Today looks to be the warmest day of the week with a high near 60 but there is at least a 20 percent chance of rain falling across our area. The rain should clear by tonight when the temperature will drop down to around 31 degrees for a chilly evening. The high temperature for tomorrow looks to be near 45 on a mostly sunny day before dropping down near 28 when the sun sets. Forecast now calls for 1-2 inches Wednesday night
The Long Branch-Eatontown area will not receive as much snow as originally anticipated, according to the latest National Weather Services forecast. As much as 5 inches was expected to fall Wednesday night, but now the forecast is calling for only 1-2 inches. The cold temperatures, wind and rain are expected to continue through Thursday. More snow is possible after 9 p.m. on Thursday night, with another 1-3 inches expected to fall. As of 8 p.m., there have been no announcements of delayed openings at any Long Branch-Eatontown area schools. The following is the National Weather Service's forecast for our area:

Snow accumulation increases in latest prediction
A storm that was expected to bring no more than a light dusting to our area could now bring a few inches to Long Branch and the surrounding towns according to the National Weather Service. The forecast for tonight calls for clouds and a low temperature of around 34 degrees before rain is expected to arrive after 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. It also looks to be a windy day with winds between 20 and 25 MPH with gusts as high as 41 MPH. Snow is expected to arrive in our area Wednesday night with the wind expected to continue blowing strong. The forecast as of Tuesday afternoon calls for between 3-5 inches on Wednesday night. Storm's track becoming clearer as it approaches
The National Weather Service has upgraded the forecast for tomorrow's predicted storm from a winter storm watch to a winter storm warning as of Thursday afternoon. The storm will affect most of our area the hardest from Friday night through Saturday morning. Depending on the track of the storm there could be snow accumulation of anywhere from 6 to 10 inches as well as "possibly a trace of ice,' according to the warning. There may be some snow on Friday morning that is expected to shift temporarily to rain before the full force of the snow is expected to arrive into Friday evening. With anywhere betweem three and five inches of snow expected to fall between Friday and Saturday, Long Branch-Eatontown officials are warning residents to prepare. Boroughs are taking to Facebook and their web site sites to get residents up to speed on what they are doing to get ready for the storm. They are also offering advice on what residents should be doing to prepare. Low accumulations expected
There is snow in the forecast for the Long Branch-Eatontown area for Super Bowl weekend. Low accumulations are expected, but the snow could make driving hazardous. A light snow is expected to fall after 5 p.m. today, with more expected throughout the night.
