Police: Eatontown House Fire Caused by Faulty Christmas Lights

Fire occurred early Sunday morning on Rodman Court

A fire early Sunday morning on Rodman Court in Eatontown appears to have been caused by faulty Christmas lights on the outside of the home, Eatontown Police Detective Lawrence Tyler said today. Eatontown Police and Fire Department crews responded to the blaze at 237 Rodman Court at 12:30 a.m. Dec. 2 and found the rear first floor area of the two-story home engulfed in smoke and flames. Tyler said the residents of the home were already outside and were standing on the front lawn of their home, uninjured, when crews arrived. "A resident of the home stated that she was sleeping in the residence, along with her two children and her parents, when they were awoken by the sound of the smoke detectors in the house going off," Tyler said. Elderly Woman Saved From Fire at Eatontown Senior Citizen Housing Complex

Woman and two police officers treated for smoke inhalation, minor injuries

  A 78-year-old woman was rescued from her burning apartment by members of the Eatontown Police Department on Sunday night. The fire occurred at The Meadowbrook senior citizen housing complex at 55 Wycoff Road in Eatontown at 7:39 p.m., according to Eatontown Police Detective Lt. Lawrence Tyler. The first officers on the scene, P.O. Sean Murphy and Sgt. William Lucia found a "heavy smoke condition" on the third floor of the complex in apartment 313, according to Detective Lt. Tyler. The officers were able to get the resident, Maryann Seidel, out of the apartment and they turned her over to Patrol Officer Antonio Amodio, who brought her downstairs and outside to an Eatontown First Aid Squad ambulance.  Sgt.
