Eatontown DWI Crackdown Begins Friday

Eatontown Police will be holding sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols

Law enforcement officers from Eatontown will be cracking down on drunk drivers as part of the annual holiday season “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” statewide campaign.  Beginning Dec. 7 and running through Jan. 2, 2013, local and state law enforcement officers will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols looking for motorists who may be driving while intoxicated. A concentrated national effort, the campaign helps to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving through high-visibility enforcement and public education tools, including posters, banners and mobile video display signs. Navesink Crash: Investigation Update

NJ State Police still investigating; more information offered

While autopsy results are in and a bit more detail is available on the fatal Navesink River boat crash, NJ State Police caution that the investigation is still ongoing. “Right now, as far as any additional charges beyond the driving while intoxicated, none have been pressed yet,” NJ State Police Sgt. Brian Polite said today. “It is still under investigation.” However, Polite said, the medical examiner, from Centra State Medical Center, Freehold, has completed the autopsy and “the cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force trauma (over the entire body) of the victim associated with drowning.” That victim is Christopher Plant, 50, of Keansburg. “Basically, what it means is that he was struck (by the other boat), suffered the …

My own brother was hit while on a jet ski by a drunk driver of a boat back in the late 80's. He has, thankfully, made a full recovery after several years of surgeries and rehab however accidents like these underscore the importance of not being in control of ANY vehicle while drunk.   more ›
