FBI Report Shows Crime Decrease in Long Branch

Number of thefts is largest decrease

A report released by the FBI this week shows a decrease in crime in Long Branch from 2009 to 2010. The 2010 study shows that Long Branch had a population of 33,368 in 2010, and 32,758 in 2009, and that the number of violent crimes decreased from 129 to 112 over that time. The largest decrease in crime during that time was the number of thefts/larceny which dropped from 652 to 565. One of the only numbers that increased was the amount of burglaries in the city, a total that jumped from 170 to to 224. The number of forcible rapes also grew from one to five from 2009 to 2010.
