Excessive Heat Warning for Much of NJ This Week

Temperatures across the state are expected to spike within the next few days, and residents are being urged to stay safe in the hot weather.  "High temperatures and humid conditions have the possibility of making outdoor activities and non air-conditioned facilities extremely dangerous and uncomfortable," State Police Superintendent Col. Rick Fuentes said in a release. Fuentes, who also serves as the state's director of the Office of Emergency Management, said the excessive heat can cause a variety of health issues for people of all ages. They can include "heat cramps, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and sometimes death." He added, "These threats can be minimized and eliminated if we practice heat-related precautions and guidelines."
