Remembering the Blizzard of 2010 in Long Branch

A collection of photos from last year's blizzard.

What a difference a year makes. This time last December, most city residents could look outside and see nothing but a white blanket of snow over their yards, cars and streets. The day after Christmas in 2010 will forever be remembered for the large snowstorm that walloped the Jersey Shore. Long Branch and West Long Branch were certainly not spared as those dared to venture outside were stuck in their cars or were forced to seek shelter. Main roads such as Wall Street and Bath Avenue were treacherous and side streets remained unplowed for days, despite the long DPW's best efforts. West Long Branch Police Officers Receive 200 Club Award

Policemen rewarded for their work during December blizzard

Four West Long Branch policemen's hard work during the winter blizzard that blanketed the borough in nearly 3 feet of snow was recently recognized. The four officers—Sgt. Brian Ellis, Ptl. Brian Burton, Det. Scott Rockhill and Ptl. Jason Buono—received the prestigious Club 200 Award during a ceremony held at Spring Lake Golf Club on May 13. Officers from across Monmouth County were awarded for various acts of bravery and outstanding police work by the association.  The 200 Club of Monmouth County is an association dedicated to providing financial assistance to the families of public safety and rescue personnel who have been killed in the line of duty.
