  The former home of Barnes & Noble, located in the Consumer Square Mall in West Long Branch, has been vacant for almost two years after the bookstore moved down Route 36 to the Monmouth Mall. Farmers Market attempted to build a food store in its place last year, but withdrew its application before the West Long Branch Planning Board after the cleanliness of one of its other locations was scrutinized. There have been no further applications put before the board, and the vacant store continues to wait for its next tenant.
