A Resolution to Quit Smoking, the Holistic Way

Author Carrie Holmes shares her story of how she quit smoking and offers tips on how you can do the same.

I have started off many a new year as an unhealthy person: a smoker, a little overweight, fatigued, stressed, and overall in not so great shape.   But in August of 2009, I resolved to change one thing: to quit smoking. I had just booked a trip to Peru at the end of October 2009.  It was a spiritual journey, starting off with a four-day meditation workshop and then a seven-day adventure through the Sacred Valley.  I had high hopes for the whole experience.  Peru is a spiritual hotbed. I didn't want to be at the top of Machu Picchu jonesing for a cigarette. I also wanted to take part in an Ayahuasca ceremony, which involves a cleansing process of sorts.
