Long Branch Man Failed to Register as Sex Offender, Prosecutor Says

Monmouth County grand jurors indicted a Long Branch man on a charge of failing to register as a convicted sex offender. The indictment against Tyrone Reid, 34, of Chelsea Avenue in Long Branch was handed up on May 17. Reid was convicted as a sex offender on Sept. 11, 2009 and is required to re-verify his address with his local law enforcement agency annually. Failing to do so is a fourth degree crime under state law. He allegedly resided in Long Branch from Jan. 21, 2013 to March 29, 2013 without registering with the Long Branch Police Department.

The Brick couple accused of animal cruelty after claiming they found a dog in a garbage bag by the side of the road will face a maximum of six months in jail if convicted, a judge said Monday afternoon. The couple dropped the dog off at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls in March. Keith E. Morgan and Shauna Ewing Morgan of Sawmill Road were arraigned Monday afternoon by Judge Robert M. LePore in Brick Township Municipal Court, accused of animal cruelty, falsifying a police report and more in connection with abandoning their cocker spaniel, now known as Sammy, whose story had drawn followers across the country. “These are disorderly persons offenses,” LePore said, adding New Jersey law allows a maximum of a six-month jail sentence…

Monmouth County Motorists Reminded to 'Click It or Ticket'

Eatontown will participate in program again this year.

As motorists take to the roads this Memorial Day holiday, the Division of Highway Traffic Safety is urging everyone to buckle up.  The 2013 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement campaign begins Monday, May 20 and runs through Monday, June 2, according to a press release from the Division of Highway Traffic Safety. Update, 12:58 p.m.: This story was updated with additional information from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. Authorities arrested a 54-year-old man in connection with the murder of a Point Pleasant man in Long Branch, according to Charles Webster, spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office (MCPO). Alan Bienkowski of Pinecrest Manor in Manchester faces felony murder, robbery and weapons charges, according to the MCPO. Michael M. Wells died of a gunshot wound in the backyard of a Cleveland Avenue home on April 10. Wells arrived at Dutch Prime Foods for work around 4:30 a.m. that day when Bienkowski allegedly confronted him and robbed him at gun point. During the course of the robbery Bienkowski shot and killed Wells, …

Tinton Falls Man, 57, Dies In Manchester Crash

  A 57-year-old Tinton Falls man was killed Thursday in a two-vehicle crash in Manchester, police said. Donald W. Labella was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. At 1:07 p.m, a 1994 Toyota 4-Runner, operated by Lee R Chism, 30, of Pennsauken, was traveling west on Route 70 when his vehicle crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane, police said. The vehicle struck a 2000 Plymouth Grand Voyager driven eastbound by Labella, police said. The initial impact was head on. Chism, who was traveling alone, was transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital, Neptune, to be treated for arms and chest injuries. Goodman, who was traveling with Labella, was transported to the same hospital and treated for a leg injury, police said. …

Eatontown Man Charged With Possession of 25 Pounds of Marijuana

10 Arrested, 140 Pounds of Marijuana Seized in Drug Raids

An Eatontown man has been arrested and charged as part of a two month-long investigation by a number of local law enforcement agencies resulted in the arrests of 10 people, plus the seizure of cars, cash and about 140 pounds of marijuana, authorities said. Joseph T. Irons II, 30, of 434 Jefferson Street, Eatontown was charged with possession with intent to distribute over 25 pounds of marijuana and possession of marijuana. Superior Court Judge Francis Hodgson set bail for Irons at $250,000 cash. Former Red Bank Mayor Ed McKenna Charged with DWI in Tinton Falls

Former Red Bank Mayor Ed McKenna has been charged with driving while intoxicated and related charges following a single-car collision on the Garden State Parkway in Tinton Falls, according to a story on app.com. McKenna, 63, is now facing driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and unsafe lane change charges by NJ State Police, who patrol the parkway, after his Mercedes, traveling north on the parkway, hit a guardrail and spun, according to police accounts in the app.com story. Police: Long Branch Man Stole Change From Parked Car in Monmouth Beach

A Long Branch man has been charged with allegedly stealing from a parked car in Monmouth Beach on Friday. Daniel Johnson, 20, of Cindy Way, allegedly entered an unoccupied Mercedes Benz parked on Seaview Avenue in Monmouth Beach and took "several dollars in change," according to court documents. Johnson also allegedly attempted to enter other vehicles parked in the Wharfside Manor Condominiums complex in Monmouth Beach. Police say Johnson wiped away condensation from several of the vehicles' windows and "attempted to operate the door handles to gain entry to the vehicles."
