Driving is a privilege, not a right...
Alex C July 24, 2014 at 03:54 pm
In case anyone is wondering why this checkpoint was announced, it's because legally, it has to be,Read More otherwise it's a violation for the Fourth Amendment. If you would like to know more, you can do some research into Michigan State Police v Sitz (1990). Long and short of it is that random check points really can't be random. They must announced with a time, place, purpose, and duration ahead of time in local media (like Patch), and must be clearly marked by signage ahead of the actual check point. If you don't like it, I suggest you write your representative and suggest he/she propose a repeal or alteration of the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Like random drug testing, random driver testing should be a requirement because I am convinced thatRead More we have many undocumented, and even some unlicensed drivers on the roads these days. I have a ten-question driver test (one I devised from an article in Reader's Digest, years ago) that I would gladly give to anyone who drives. I will venture a guess that 80% would fail with half or more, incorrect answers.

Phil Players and Losers get comped, plan and simple. The Poconos Tanked The, Catskills Tanked,Read More Mystic Conn. BUT The problem is its The Raritan Bay shore ( WATER ) Economy and times Change, I have been to all of them and would Never Return.
Phil Brooks July 21, 2014 at 04:44 pm
William, Yes, but I can get comped and go to AC and comped and go to the Bahamas. Do I have toRead More think twice about where I'm going? Also, and not that I'm in a hurry to go to either place, the Poconos got gambling and it helped them. The Catskills didn't and they're dead. Miami Beach re-gentrified and it's a fine place to go after many dark years, so I'm not sure what you're referring to there. Mystic? Not sure what you're talking about, but it still looks like a decent seaport and aquarium, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. I don't know anything about Smithville and can't comment. Some places, like Hoboken, like Miami, like midtown Manhattan (it was pretty nasty there back in the '70s) knew they had to do something and re-invent themselves. Other places, like Newark, have been rotting since the 1967 riots and seem to be waiting for someone else to deliver a truckload of fairy dust because they can't seem to be able to get off their asses there. For some reason, AC figured that the novelty of casino gambling on the east coast would carry them along for many years. But they had to re-invent themselves, too, as in cleaning up the city, and never did it. And look where they are. It sure as heck isn't a gambling destination like Vegas or the Caribbean; it's a day trip, at best. So, between the honky tonk, as you say, that's a big part of the Jersey shore (and we can't forget about the hole that is Asbury Park) and Atlantic City tanking, I'm convinced this state has been run by idiots for many years.

Yeah, let's put down more asphalt and destroy more natural habitat. You would think after Sandy andRead More other storms (such as irene) the park service would "get it". Millions are going to be invested in new hardscape and infrastructure, this after how much money was spent in fixing what the previous large storms did to sandy hook. Now the NPS is going to invest millions more so that future storms can inflict even more damage and roll up more costs for repair/replacement.
William July 19, 2014 at 03:04 pm
Tom I Totally agree with you And there is always a BUT !! There are ways of Making Trails with outRead More Asphalt, I Have been in many national parks From Alaska to Key West. Gateway National Park NJ-NY Probably and Most likely has The Highest Cost and add in Wasted Funds in all Directions Coast to Coast of the rest Combined, Many parks have Natural trails covered with a natural Cover. That are integrated into the Natural surroundings and are protected from over use, Alaska is a Poster child of Smart Management ,By Not only The Nation Park But The State and Towns along with Fish and Game, They Improve, Manage, The Largest System in the largest state with the fewest Residents. But also The largest Amount of Visitors, Why ?? One reason Less Politics one agency working with the other for one Common Goal, Because they all depend on it. I could go on and on about other states. but it would be redundant to say The least. One Only has to ask are The bike trails over crowded on The Hook are they fully used . Will The Habitat of Poison Ivy Be really be a Lose, Out of mind and site. Covered with a natural surface, Let it be a Natural Trail not a Side walk with pavement we have enough of that People go there to get away from all That, And Yeas there are many types of natural coverings that can be used, but cost a bit more in maintenance but a lot less to replace,

This is my opinion. I think the Teresa and Joe case is a fake. I do not believe the case is real. IRead More do think Joe got a DWI but I think everything else is fake. Why would they keep postponing the sentencing? The media says it is because Joe's Father passing. I do not believe it. No court would ever postpone a sentencing date for a death in family ever. They are hoping people forget about it. I am sorry to hear the very sad news about Joe's Father. It is very sad. Amber? Her accent is fake. I grew up in the same area she and Melissa grew up in. Amber's accent is annoying because it is so fake. I now live next to Colts Neck. I avoid Wegmans because of the phony snobs that are invading our area. Cant stand them. The Colts Neck women sure put Teresa, Dina and the original cast in a much better light. Oh their husbands are morons too. Uckko.
