Team members are pledging to obtain donations from third parties or donating themselves to assist the chapter with funding toward ongoing local disaster response efforts. Each runner has signed a commitment letter for their pledge.

“This past year has been especially difficult for local disaster responses," Jersey Coast Chapter Special Event Specialist Kim Price said. “We had a number of floods last spring, multiple bad storms in the summer and more flooding in August followed by Hurricane Irene."

"More recently, we had the Long Branch multi-unit fire that really stretched our resources," Price continued.  "Knowing our Team Red runners are making the effort to support us by donating their own time and efforts means a lot to us and helps us know our assistance is appreciated.”

Team Red and thousands of other runners will start the race at Monmouth Park this weekend and travel through several Jersey Shore towns before crossing the finish line in Long Branch.
