No Parking Meters in Long Branch This Summer

Mayor said city will "hold off until next year" for meters

Long Branch residents will not be paying to park in the city this summer.

Mayor Adam Schneider announced today that the city will "hold off on parking meters until next year."

"The council and I want to make a summer day in Long Branch as easy as possible," Schneider said on his Facebook page.

The council had been undecided on when it would install parking meters and implement paid parking in the city.

The city passed an $855,000 bond ordinance for the meters last June and outlined a plan where all the meters would be placed. The original plan was to have them installed and running by mid-July, 2012, but that never happened.

The city has the meters in storage and that they are ready to be installed if the city decides to use them next summer.
