Marine Science Camp Offered in Sandy Hook

Sandy Hook camp sponsored by American Littoral Society starts Aug. 6

 

Treat your kids to a week of learning and fun with American Littoral Society educators and naturalists this August in Sandy Hook.

The camp will feature the SeaQuest marine science and environmental science curriculum which has been successfully used in New Jersey after-school enrichment programs for the past five years, according to the American Littoral Society (ALS).

This summer, kids entering grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 can participate in outdoor, field-based learning about coastal habitat, wildlife and human impacts on them. 

Sandy Hook sessions are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. August 6-10 and Aug 20-24 at ALS headquarters in historic Fort Hancock.

The fee is $250 per student and includes all materials, supplies and snacks. Children must bring their own lunch and have transportation to the site.

Kids will learn about seining, marine life identification, marsh exploration, birding and shelling, fishing and field journaling, coastal botany and marine forensic science.
