Sports Betting Could be Coming to Monmouth Park in the Fall

Oceanport Mayor Michael Mahon says sports wagering would allow the track to become a "year round destination," according to an article in the Asbury Park Press.

 

If Gov. Chris Christie has his way, sports wagering enthusiasts will be able to legally bet on their favorite teams this fall at , according to a report in the Asbury Park Press.

The governor is quoted in the article as saying that sports betting, which is prohibited in 46 states, would be a "boost" to the casino and horse racing industries.

Oceanport Mayor Michael Mahon, who told Patch in February that he supported making the venue a 365-day operation, told the Press, “That’s been a local goal all along, how do we expand activity to make Monmouth Park a year-round business destination beyond its 72 days of racing."
