Shore AC Readies Fall Cross Country Series

For harriers throughout the Jersey Shore, the arrival of fall means one thing— cross country.

For the 18th year, the Shore Athletic Club will host its Fall Cross Country Series at locations throughout Monmouth County. The six race series offers a chance for runners of all fitness levels to compete.

Race director Marc Altenau of the Shore AC explains that these races are ideal for both elite runners looking for fast times or more casual competitors who want a challenge.

"These races are very low key," he said. "This is a great way to step back onto the course with low exposure."

The series begins Oct. 1 and runs Saturday mornings through Nov. 5. All races begin at 9 a.m.

The races dates are as follows:

Oct 1— Thompson Park, Lincroft

Oct. 8— Tatum Park, Middletown

Oct. 15— Wolf Hill Park, Oceanport

Oct. 22— Thompson Park, Lincroft

Oct. 29— Tatum Park, Middletown

Nov. 5— Holmdel Park, Holmdel

Each race will be a distance of 5,000 meters. The cost of registration is $5 per race. Participants may enter all six races for just $25.
