However, Rutgers made its way back to the No. 3 spot on Sunday when it defeated Temple, 1-0, and UConn fell to Memphis, 5-1. UConn fell to 11-8 overall and 5-4 in the conference, and is seeded fourth.

Sophomore Erica Skroski, an Absegami High School graduate from Galloway, posted her third career goal and the second game-winning goal of her career against the Owls (6-11-1, 1-8), who ended up seeded ninth in the conference tournament.

Skroski also had the game-winner against Southern Methodist on Oct. 13, and scored in a 2-1 loss to Central Florida this year.

The win over Temple gave goalie Jess Janosz her sixth shutout of the season, and 10th of her career, according to scarletknights.com. The Scarlet Knights gave up just six shots, and Rutgers set a single-season record for wins at home, at 10.

Central Florida (15-2-2, 8-0-1) earned the top seed in the conference tournament, followed by Louisville (12-4-1, 8-1).

The first round is held this week on the campuses of the higher seeded teams. Winners advance to next weekend’s semifinals, which will be held at Central Florida Nov. 8. The conference final, also at Central Florida, is Nov. 10.

ONE MORE TO GO FOR THE MEN: The men’s soccer team has one regular season game left, at Central Florida on Saturday, 7 p.m.

Following its 1-0 loss to Temple last week, the Scarlet Knights are 5-9-2 overall and 2-4-1 in the conference. They are currently in ninth place, just behind Memphis, which finished 3-5 in league play.

The men’s conference tournament begins Nov. 8.

TWO LEFT FOR FIELD HOCKEY: The field hockey team fell to 9-7 overall, 2-4 in Big East play with two games left following a 3-0 loss to Providence last week.

According to dailytargum.com, the loss eliminated the Scarlet Knights from contention for the Big East tournament. It’s the second year in a row Providence knocked Rutgers out of contention for a conference title.
