Monmouth University Joins Big South Conference

The university is moving out of the Northeast Conference, opening up more scholarship opportunities for athletes.

Monmouth University announced on Wednesday that in 2014, its football program will officially be a part of the Big South Conference.

According to the Asbury Park Press, the Big South Conference opens up scholarship opportunities that were previously limited in the Northeast Conference

“I thank the Big South presidents and the commissioner for their confidence in Monmouth,” President Paul Gaffney II said to the APP. “New horizons, new challenges, bring energy and excitement. The Big South is an opportunity for the Hawks to step up.”

Schools in the Big South mostly hail from states like Virginia and North Carolina. The Press reported that as a member, Monmouth would be considered a "counter" school if its scholarship eligibility among athletes reaches 57. A win against the Hawks would count for other schools as a point toward the bowl.

I will drive through the area tomorrow to see if I spot anything! Try googling volunteer searchRead More groups for missing dogs. There are a few in the NJ area. Also ask the local SPCA and Humane Society to see if they can lend you humane traps. Try patrolling the area with food of a strong odor...raw meat, steak, etc. Search in tiny groups and split up to avoid scaring him away, and always bring food and a leash in case you have to lure him over and then leash him. Try also sitting in the area last spotted quietly to see if he approaches you. Bring food so he smells it. Just a few things I have learned while doing some dog searches. Keep sharing and put up posters locally...it helps!
