Five Hawks scored in double figures in Monmouth University's home-opening, 80-65 victory over Fordham on Saturday night.
Monmouth (2-8) was led by Jesse Steele's 18 points, six assists and five rebounds as the team dominated the Rams (3-5) and never trailed after jumping out to a 12-0 lead early.
Ed Waite had 14 points and eight rebounds, Dion Nesmith chipped in 12 points and a career-high eight rebounds, Austin Tillotson contributed a season-best 12 points and Mike Myers Keitt added 10 points.

Saturday's contest was Monmouth's second consecutive victory, as the team continues to play it early season non-conference schedule.
The Hawks will face a difficult opponent on Monday, Dec. 12, when the team hits the road once again to face Big East opponent Rutgers (4-5) at 7:30 p.m.
