Long Branch Participates in State Rowing Championships

The power to propel a boat with the oars in your hands, from the to the Seaside Bridge and back — such feats were on display as the yacht club hosted a state competition Monday.
This year's New Jersey State Rowing Championships were held starting at 6 p.m.
The event was packed with local lifeguards and those from throughout the state, to take part in a seven-mile row.

The open-water race paired competitors in ten classes of boats. There were five age group competitions and five different rowing combinations (double, for example).
It its 11th year, the race took place on a beautful day with optimal conditions.
