Long Branch Divsion 3-Bound Student Athletes Honored By School

Twenty four Long Branch student athletes will be playing sports at Division 3 colleges this fall.

While a select few of Long Branch's student athletes have scholarships to play sports at Division 1 schools this fall, an even greater number are headed to smaller schools for athletics.

Twenty four of these student athletes were honored at Long Branch High School today by Athletic Director Jason Corley and football and wrestling coach Dan George.

"It's a special event today," Corley said. " Coach George came up with a tremendous idea ti showcase all our students who are going off to college."

"It's an exciting time for all the students and we wanted to take time to celebrate all the things these men and women have done," George said. "Playing sports is competitive and difficult and it doesn't matter if you're playing DI, D2 or D3."

The students honored played sports ranging from swimming and track to football and baseball.

• Kim Davis: Farleigh Dickinson University for field hockey and lacrosse

• Cassidy Egan: Farleigh Dickinson University for field hockey

• Jacinta Santos: Montclair State University for field hockey and lacrosse

• Alissa Popo: Farleigh Dickinson University for field hockey

• Spencer Frantz: Wilkes College for baseball

• Ashwin Mudiraj: Drew University for baseball

• Thomas McCauslin: Montclair State University for baseball

• Josh Amato: Montclair State University for baseball

• Curstin Gunter: Stevenson University for football

• Trey Smith: Farleigh Dickinson University for football

• Dominic Minceilli: Kean University for football

• Vincent Roselli: Kean University for football

• Corey Morris: Delaware Valley College for football

• Tyler White: Misericordia University for football

• Luke Balina: Springfield College for wrestling

• Nicholas George: Roger Williams University for wrestling

• Daniel Cunha: Kean University for soccer

• Thomas McGlennon: Marywood University for soccer and baseball

• Mariah Blanton: Ramapo College for track

• Tanai Johnson: Ramapo College for track
