Long Branch Athlete of the Week: Nicholas Pappayliou

Pappayliou headed to Davidson for wrestling this fall

Nicholas Pappayliou of Long Branch High School is Long Branch-Eatontown Patch's Athlete of the Week.

Pappayliou is headed to Davidson College to wrestle this fall and signed his national letter of intent earlier this month. He also was a 3-year starter on the school's varsity football team and participated in track and field for four years.

Each week we ask our athlete of the week three questions and print their answers verbatim.

Why did you choose the college you did?

They were just really great throughout the entire recruiting process. When I went down there I really felt at home not only with the students and the campus, but with the team as well. I just felt it was a place I could go and have a really phenomenal four years.

What has been your best sports experience at Long Branch High School so far?

I would say winning the division in football would probably be the crowning achievement right now.

What do you plan on studying in college?

I was thinking somewhere along the lines of political science or maybe history.
