LBHS Hall of Famer Book Talk & Signing

Dr. William B. Gould IV, a member of the LBHS Hall of Fame, will be visiting the Long Branch Free Public Library (328 Broadway) on Wednesday, November 16th at 7pm. Dr. Gould will be discussing his book Bargaining with Baseball: Labor Relations in an Age of Prosperous Turmoil. In 1995, Dr. Gould, then chairman of the National Labor Relations Board, cast the deciding vote to obtain the injunction that ended the longest strike in baseball history. The book considers the 140-year sweep of labor-management relationships and conflict, exploring player-owner disputes, the development of free agency, the collective bargaining process, and the racial integration of baseball, among other topics. Books will be available for sale and signing.
