De-Vining

Devine Forestries Services is looking for volunteer de-viners.  Register Today for a pruning event on Saturday, 03/24/12!

Last summer when you wandered beneath the cooling branches of the trees in our parks, were you aware that the green canopy overhead was not, in fact, the leaves of the trees?

If you were, then you're an observant tree hugger, lover, or just a person passionate about trees - someone who can be quickly qualified as a tree 'de-viner'.  All it takes is a few minutes of your time and the ability to pick up some proper pruning skills.

The trees in our town parks are already under duress, with ice storms, hurricane winds, snow storms, heat waves, and air pollution taking their toll.  Stressed and injured trees are also susceptible to the secondary effects of global warming - insects and disease.

To add to the trees' distress are the vines that weigh heavily on their branches; they strangle and they suffocate, breathe the trees' air and block the sun from their leaves.  Without the sun, the trees cannot photosynthesize food and they will not survive.

A dead tree with a bower of vines is no substitute for the real thing. We will lose so much if we lose these trees - but that's another tale to be told...

Look around you and you will notice - we need to act now.

Please contact Devine Forestries Services, a group of like-minded individuals, to help out:

(If you send us an email, we will keep a look out for you!)

You do not need to make a long-term commitment.  Just come to a "pruning" event to get a hands-on lesson in proper pruning technique (important because you do not want to hurt the tree you're trying to help). A certified arborist will be your coach. (Eatontown Area)

Imagine!  One, two, or three clips in one, two, or three minutes and you might have saved a tree!  How gratifying is that?!   If you only have time for one tree, remember - it mattered to that one.

Click on the photos below (then right-click to zoom in).  You won't miss the entreaty there...for you to care.)

Please join any time.  Now would be nice. (-:
