BlueClaws Wear Special Jerseys Honoring Hurricane-Impacted Towns

Monmouth, Ocean county town names on jerseys of players, staff

It was a big hit: Opening weekend for the Lakewood BlueClaws featured special jerseys worn by players and staff for a "Restore the Shore" theme that helped Hurricane Sandy charity efforts.

Each player wore a jersey with a town name on the back, highlighting a town from Monmouth or Ocean counties.

All the jerseys would be auctioned off, bids placed on a table on the concourse over the opening weekend at the stadium.

Many of the jerseys drew bids totalling several hundred dollars, while the minimum opening bid was $125. The event lasted through April 7.
