A Look Ahead at This Week's Sports Action For Shore Regional and Long Branch

The Shore Regional and Long Branch High School varsity teams will have several interesting matchups in the Shore Conference this week. The highlight of the week may be an meeting between conference powerhouse the Rumson and Shore Regional girls lacrosse teams on Tuesday.

Sports writer Scott Stump keeps you up to date on what to watch for this week in Shore Regional and Long Branch varsity athletics:  

Monday  

Shore boys lacrosse takes on Ocean at 3:45 p.m. on the road as it tries to continue a strong first season as a varsity program.  

The Shore boys golf team travels to Rumson to face the No. 1 team in the Shore Conference.  

The Long Branch baseball team will try to cool off a hot Matawan team on the road at 4 p.m.  
 

Tuesday 

The Shore girls lacrosse team faces old rival Rumson at home at 4 p.m. in a battle for Shore supremacy after losing to the Bulldogs in their first meeting for their only loss to a Shore Conference team this season.  

The Long Branch softball and baseball teams both travel to Count Basie Field in Red Bank for 4 p.m. games against Red Bank Catholic.  

The Long Branch boys lacrosse team takes on Marlboro at home at 4 p.m. 

Wednesday  

The Shore baseball team takes on Raritan at home in a Class A Central match-up at 4 p.m. 

The Shore boys lacrosse team heads to Manasquan to take on one of the Shore’s oldest programs.  

The Long Branch boys lacrosse team faces defending Shore Conference Tournament champion Red Bank Catholic at 4 p.m. on the Caseys’ home field.  

Thursday

Shore and star first singles player Michael Lippens head to Ocean for a boys tennis match against another established program.  

Shore softball welcomes an improved Holmdel team for a Class A Central home game at 4 p.m.  

Long Branch’s baseball team welcomes nearby rival Neptune for a Class B North game at 3:45 p.m. 

Friday 

Shore’s boys tennis team goes on the road to face the No. 1 team in the Shore, Holmdel, at 4 p.m. 

Shore’s boys lacrosse team takes on rival Rumson, the No. 1 team in the Shore, at home at 4 p.m. 

The Long Branch girls lacrosse team travels to Red Bank Catholic for a 4 p.m. game against a perennial top 10 team in the Shore.  
 

Saturday

The Shore softball team welcomes one of the Shore Conference’s top teams, St. John Vianney, at 10 a.m. 

The Shore girls lacrosse team hosts Freehold Township at noon in a solid nondivisional match-up.  

Long Branch’s boys volleyball team travels to Colts Neck for a Shore Conference showdown at 4 p.m.
