West Long Branch Schools, Shore Regional to House Monmouth Beach Students

Monmouth Beach Elementary School damaged by storm

Monmouth Beach Elementary School students will be attending Shore Regional and the West Long Branch School District once school resumes next week. Wolf Hill School will also serve as a temporary home for younger students.

According to a letter from Shore Regional Superintendent Renae LaPrete said Monmouth Beach Elementary School "endured significant damage" during Hurricane Sandy.

Many school staff members and Monmouth Beach families have also been displaced.

The following arrangements have been made to accommodate Monmouth Beach students, grades PreK-8.

• PreK- Kindergarten – Wolfe Hill School in Oceanport

• Grades 1,2,3 – Betty McElmon School in West Long Branch

• Grade 4 – Frank Antonides School in West Long Branch

• Grades 5-8 – Shore Regional High School

LaPrete said Shore Regional still does not have power, and that the high school will only reopen on Monday, Nov. 12 if "we can provide a safe environment for students and staff and power is restored."

Ok WLB I need some help. My daughter is a out of district student and the bus co she was traveling on was out of Avon by the Sea. I no longer no if they exists. I can't get thru to Shore Regional, Coast bus services or MOECS. Her school in Somerset opened Monday & I received no call from anyone. Can you please let me know how you plan to transport her or will you be sending a tutor to the house for now ? What are your intentions?

Yes, Shore Regional, with dozens of your students suddenly homeless, one of your sending districts without a school, and another being used as a shelter, please drop EVERYTHING and immediately attend to the needs of this one person who is apparently more important than everyone else in the four towns that share your facilities!

Bonnie, Did you see anywhere that I asked them to drop EVERYTHING & immedately attend to this? You oviously read it wrong. My daughter is a special needs student that has to be sent out of district because she has severe learning disabilities as well as eplepsey. But she is still entitled to an education. Not that it is any of your buisnes but the reason its so important for me to get her back in school is because my husband is dying of a terminal cancer and I can not take her with us to his treatments in Hackensack. So you see Bonnie we are all just trying to survive! If you cant help another human being at least keep your mouth shut and dont judge them.
