West Long Branch Schools, Shore Regional to House Monmouth Beach Students

Monmouth Beach Elementary School damaged by storm

 

Monmouth Beach Elementary School students will be attending Shore Regional and the West Long Branch School District once school resumes next week. Wolf Hill School will also serve as a temporary home for younger students.

According to a letter from Shore Regional Superintendent Renae LaPrete said Monmouth Beach Elementary School "endured significant damage" during Hurricane Sandy.

Many school staff members and Monmouth Beach families have also been displaced.

The following arrangements have been made to accommodate Monmouth Beach students, grades PreK-8.

• PreK- Kindergarten – Wolfe Hill School in Oceanport

• Grades 1,2,3 – Betty McElmon School in West Long Branch

• Grade 4 – Frank Antonides School in West Long Branch

• Grades 5-8 – Shore Regional High School

LaPrete said Shore Regional still does not have power, and that the high school will only reopen on Monday, Nov. 12 if "we can provide a safe environment for students and staff and power is restored."
